Snowshoe is one of the rarest breed of cat in the world. This relatively
new breed of cat originated in Philadelphia, USA. It has been in
existence for 45 years but still rare due to the difficulty of
reproducing the correct coat markings. The coat coloration recognized by
registries and associations is point coloration, and it comes in a
variety of colors.
Snowshoe cats
have an affectionate and docile disposition. Due to this, they do not do
well under circumstances where they are left alone for long periods of
time. Snowshoes are also very vocal and are noted as being very
intelligent and have the ability to learn tricks and open doors. The
cats also enjoy water, and may swim on some occasions.
2.) Nebelung
Another rare
breed of cat is the Nebelung. This domestic cat has long bodies,
wide-set green eyes, long and dense fur, and mild dispositions. Its name
was taken from the German word “Nebel” which means “mist or fog” and a
medieval Germanic saga, Nibelungenlied. This lovely-looking cat has
distinctive silky blue-grey coat.
This semi-long
haired Russian Blue, which is impressively beautiful for its blue/grey
colorations, was introduced in the mid-1980s.
3.) Kurilian Bobtail
One of the
handsomest breed of cat is the Kurilian Bobtail. This rare cat breed
originated from the Kuril Islands of Russia. This cat is characterized
by a semi-cobby body type and a distinct short, fluffy tail. The act’s
hind legs are longer than the front and the back is slightly arched.

The California
Spangled Cat was specially bred to resemble spotted wildcats. So if you
won a California Spangled Cat, it’s like having an ocelot or leopard at
your home. This rare cat breed was originally bred in the 1980s and was
only ever a rare breed. This cat breed is not just rare; it is also
very expensive with price of up to $2,500.00.
5.) American Wirehair
The American
Wirehair is the rarest of the 41 CFA breeds. This unique cat breed that
originated from New York, USA is a very popular breed but there are only
39 known registered individuals. The unique wirehair coat is
genetically dominant over a normal coat. It has a thick ringed or
striped tail, and is also said to have a strong healthy heart. All
Wirehairs do little to no shedding!
6.) Burmilla
The Burmilla
is a rare breed of domestic cat which originated in the United Kingdom.
This awesome-looking breed was introduced in 1981. Burmilla is a cross
between the Burmese and Chinchilla Persian breeds, in 1984, standards
were produce and in the 1990s, it gained championship status in the UK.
7.) Serengeti
Serengeti Cats
are very popular and beautiful but rare cat breeds. They are
characterized by long legs, large ears and spotted bodies. They were
first developed by crossing an Oriental Shorthair Cat and a Bengal Cat.
This cat breed is still in the development stages with the ultimate aim
of producing a cat that resembles a Serval without using any recent wild
cat blood.
8.) Sphynx
